Farewell
Today is a public holiday in South Africa ( Day of Reconciliation...how apt) so I had my dearest and closest around for a bit of farewelling. Was a very good day with my loveliest faces and bodies all around and near me. Hoping to see a few 1x more time in the nearest future and then it's final good-bye's for a long time.
However have also received my booking confirmation for my flight to Lagos and saw that I'm booked back home on the 28th of March. Jaayyyeeeh!
So it seems I'm home for the Easter hols. Relief!
Also found out that I need to take my own towels and bedsheets-maybe I won't and buy some there...
Baggage is already going to be hectic with meds, toiletries and clothing.
Will see when I start packing.
So far, so good. another 3 weeks to go before final good-bye's.

Finally, the last day at work before the big trek up north.
It's been a wonderful nearly 3 years and through many mixed emotions I shall leave this comfortably challenging office today for the last time...

On the last Friday at my old work
Today, I shall be handing over my job to my lovely sista who has bravely taken on this multi-functional position here.
As they say, with one crying and one laughing eye, we say goodbye to nearly 3 years of toiling on this world famous brand. I shall be missing all my wonderful colleagues here badly...

Counting the days
Thursday today and 3 more days at my current workplace.
Glad that a good friend of mine is taking over my position and happy in the knowledge that my baby brand will be well nurtured.
My farewell next week and then a few days of rest before packing up and moving back into the cottage with the intention of letting the house corporately.
Hopefully this way we can recover from the financial losses suffered in this dreadfull recession year.

Welcome to my adventure blog
Well, it's now only about 4 weeks that I'm going to be leaving to start a new working life in Lagos, Nigeria.
Have been running around like a lunatic getting all the paperwork in order-Visa applications, Yellow Card (more about that later), copies of 30 year old Uni certificated, a health attest from my doctor, copies of awards, letters of reference and photos. And of course I had to get an offshore banking account as well.
The inoculations all given in one sitting knocked me off the rails with immediate and late symptoms...as I walked out of the Travel Clinic I nearly threw up in the parking lot shrubbery.
The next day my upper arm, both, felt like I had lifted a baby elephant and a week later I had a fever spike and the runs ...from which one I do not know. Yellow fever, Hep A&B, Tetanus, Typhoid, Cholera, Meningitis and God-knows-what nasty creepy-crawlies revved up my immune system to 0-100 in 3 seconds.
Still have to go for a Hep A&B booster and a shot of Beriglobin, which my doc suggested ontop.
Still lots of stuff to do until departure, least of all handing over my current position to my successor.
